Richard Washington Sets Official Visit to Wake Forest

We know when the smooth lefty will be visiting Mother So Dear.

Richard Washington, one of Wake Forest's top shooting guard targets, has set the dates on which he will take an official visit to Wake Forest per 247 Sports. The smooth shooting lefty from Virginia, who can also handle the ball, is set to visit Wake Forest on the weekend of August 1st. This official visit date is significant for a number of reasons, and could very well mean that Wake Forest will shortly know at least one more member off its 2016 recruiting class.

This date is significant because it is the first time that he can take an official visit after the Dead Period. This clearly demonstrates that Washington thinks very highly of Wake Forest since this is the visit that he has elected to set up first. Secondly, is that this is the same weekend that fellow guard target Eli Wright will be taking his official visit to Wake Forest. I anticipate there will be a heavy press from the coaching staff to show them how they could play together and fit into Wake's system. Given their respective versatile skill sets, I see no issue with the two of them being able to play together. Given their size, either is capable of playing the 2 or the 3, and Washington could potentially play some point guard.

Both Washington and Wright have been having excellent AAU seasons so far, and scouts have taken notice.

This news also tells me that the staff is prioritizing Washington and Wright over Kwe Parker. It has appeared that way for some time, but this appears to be further evidence of that. Stay  tuned as we continue to follow the recruitment process of both Washington and Wright.
