Zander Zimmer, a 3-star defensive end out of Florida, has committed to Wake Forest. He chose Wake Forest over offers from Oregon, yes Oregon, Vanderbilt, Purdue, West Virginia, Duke, Virginia, and many others. 247 lists him as the 890th best player in the class, and as the 53rd best weakside defensive end in the 2016 recruiting class. The addition of Zimmer gives Wake Forest 10 verbal commitments in the 2016 recruiting class, and ranks them 33rd nationally according to 247 Sports Composite Ratings.
Zimmer finished the 2014 season with 117 tackles, 8 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, and 2 forced fumbles. He was named Orlando Defensive Player of the Year, and was named 2nd Team All-State. He is another very quality addition to the Wake Forest recruiting class. This one will be smaller than the previous two classes, but is very solid from top-to-bottom. Through recruiting efforts, the Wake Forest staff has assembled what will become a football team that is very good in the trenches.
Please join me in welcoming Zander to Wake Forest.
