EDITORS NOTE: THIS ARTICLE ORIGINALLY RAN BACK IN JUNE, BUT SINCE THE GAME IS ON SATURDAY WE ARE REOPENING COMMENTS AND BRINGING IT BACK TO THE FRONT PAGE.
Indiana head coach Kevin Wilson made quite the statement on Wednesday night when he declared that Indiana was going to "kick Wake Forest's ass." The game doesn't take place until September 26th, but Coach Wilson seemed to think that June 3rd was the night to make such a declarative statement.
Kevin Wilson: "I'm a southern baptist, but I don't like the (Wake Forest) Deacons. We're going to kick their ass."

The most absurd part of the statement isn't the lack of class, but rather the lack of a reality check. Kevin Wilson was an accomplished assistant at Oklahoma, I will give him that, but Wilson is 14-34 at Indiana, and is just 6-26 in Big Ten play. Yes, he inherited a program that had won just one Big Ten game in each of the three seasons before he got there, but the Hoosiers went 1-7 in Big Ten play last season. But honestly, who talks trash about Wake Forest? I mean who throws a shoe? I get that it's a pep rally, but come on. I guess their opening home slate of Southern Illinois, FIU, and Western Kentucky didn't get the crowd fired up.
This is some serious bulletin board material for Dave Clawson and his Deacs as they attack offseason workouts. Clawson, who has won a conference championship every place he has coached, will have the Deacs ready to play come September 26th. I hope to see the fans come out strong to BB&T.
