It would be disingenuous to start the preview of the 2015 Wake Forest linebackers with anybody other than Brandon Chubb. That's not to say that any of the other linebackers on the team are chopped liver, but Mr. Chubb is clearly THE guy other teams want to stay away from.
Along with Marquel Lee and Hunter Williams, the Deacs will look to Chubb to anchor from the linebacking position what should be one of the best front seven in the ACC. The "bend but don't break" defense of last year should be even better up front and put forth a very good rush and short passing game defense.
The redshirt senior Chubb racked up 109 tackles, good enough for second on the team (behind Ryan Janvion's team high 115 tackles), and 58th in the country. He also accrued 6.5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles.
The 6-1, 245 pound linebacker enters 2015 as his fourth meaningful year of contribution, totaling 219 tackles, and 10.5 tackles for loss over three years.
He was named to Phil Steele's First Team All-ACC preseason list, joining punter Alex Kinal as the only other Demon Deacon to earn that accolade.
Chubb grew up in Georgia, where he graduated from Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs. In addition to excelling on the football field, Brandon also is majoring in Business and Enterprise Management.
