The quarterback position appears to be in excellent shape moving forward at Wake Forest. Last night, 2016 quarterback commit Jamie Newman was invited to compete in the Elite 11 semifinals.

The semifinals will take place in Los Angeles, California from June 5th through 7th. There will be up to 30 participants invited to the event, which means that quarterback scouts consider Newman to be at least one of the 30 best quarterbacks in the class of 2016. If Newman is deemed to be one of the 18 best prospects at the event, then he will be invited to the Elite 11 Finals.

247 Sports considers Newman to be the 14th best dual-threat quarterback prospect in the 2016 class. The quarterback has only improved his stock since committing to Wake Forest in April. The Wake Forest staff continues to demonstrate that they have an incredible eye for talent, as they have routinely identified prospects who later shoot up the rankings.

Elite 11 Semifinals

The Elite 11 Semifinals will bring together top performers from the 2015 Elite 11 regional events to receive advanced, one-on-one quarterback instruction in a highly competitive setting. The Elite 11 Semifinals will span two days and include on-field drills, routes-on-air, classroom instruction and a final 7-on-7 evaluation. Top performers can earn a spot in the Elite 11 Finals as part of The Opening Finals July 5-11 at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore.
