Jamauri Wakefield Commits to Wake Forest

One commitment simply wasn't enough for Wake Forest on this Friday.

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Jamauri Wakefield, an athlete out of Providence High School in Jacksonville, Florida, has committed to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. He became the second commitment of the day. Cade Carney, a 3-star running back out of North Carolina, also committed to Wake Forest today. Wakefield visited Wake Forest earlier in the week. 247 lists Wakefield as an outside linebacker, while Rivals lists him as a running back. He also held offers from Pittsburgh, UCF, and South Florida. He is 6'0" 210-pounds.

Wakefield put up monster numbers as a junior, and finished with 2,519 rushing yards and 37 touchdowns. He does not have elite speed, but he is a downhill runner, who finds the gaps, and is incredibly productive. Coach Clawson and his staff continue to stockpile the Wake Forest roster with productive tailbacks. In 2015, Wake landed Rocky Reid and Matt Colburn, and this year they have already added Cade Carney and now Jamauri Wakefield. Admittedly, Carney and Wakefield are both "athletes," but I anticipate both starting their Wake Forest careers at running back.

Wake got better today.
