Tight End Bowman Archibald to Transfer from Wake Forest

Bowman Archibald to transfer from Wake Forest

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

As first reported by Les Johns at Deacons Illustrated (Rivals), freshman tight end Bowman Archibald has requested and been granted his request to transfer by head coach Dave Clawson

Archibald, a 6-6, 245 pound three star out of Dade City, Florida, committed to Wake Forest over Miami, Oregon, and Southern California. He enrolled at Wake Forest in December, but then broke his leg in spring practice. He was expected to be a solid contributor over his four years in Winston-Salem, especially with an offer sheet like that.

There were a couple of tweets out there that Archibald was looking at Florida, but no solid substantiation to back that up.

There is no known reason to the transfer other than speculation, so we at Blogger So Dear will hold off until we have something solid behind the sudden move.

The good news is that tight end is a solid position for the Deacs, with Cam Serigne and Devin Pike returning from last year. However, it will impact depth at the position. This is amplified by the fact that tight end recruit Jake Bargas decommitted from Wake Forest last January. It does change the possibility of adding another TE for the 2016 class, but at this point it is unclear as to who that may be.
