Player Profile: Running Back Tyler Bell

After decommitting from Southern Mississippi in October, Tyler Bell became a late addition to coach Dave Clawson's 2015 recruiting class.

Bell hails from Mobile, Alabama and recently completed his high school football career at Faith Academy, also located in Mobile. Coming in at 6-feet tall and weighing 205 pounds, Bell was rated a 3-star prospect by Rivals.com.

In his senior season at Faith Academy, Bell carried the ball 153 times for 640 yards and ten touchdowns. That averaged out to just over 70 yards per game. He caught just 12 passes over the course of the season, but did manage to record a receiving touchdown. It's worth noting that he was dealing with injuries throughout his senior campaign.

Bell joins a crowded running back corps that includes Isaiah Robinson, Dez Wortham and Rock Reid. While Robinson and Wortham were uninspiring last season, Reid, a fellow freshman, will have a legitimate chance to make an impact. Bell is likely looking at a redshirt season in 2015, but coach Clawson claims that the position is open to competition.
