Wake Forest Football Recruiting: WR Malik Grate Commits to Wake Forest

Student Sports

Wake Forest extended Pendleton High School wide receiver Malik Grate a scholarship offer last week, and tonight he accepted that offer and committed to play football at Wake Forest University. He is listed as a two-star cornerback on Rivals, but the staff recruited him as a wide receiver. Last season Grate had 36 receptions for 475 yards and 7 touchdowns. His only other scholarship offer is from Furman, though he was receiving attention from the Clemson staff.

Grate is the second wide receiver in the 2016 class to commit to the Deacs, with Jeremiah Brown out of High Point being the other. At this point, "sleeper" is probably the best term to describe Grate. His senior season will certainly be one to watch. Grate is yet another example of the staff placing a greater emphasis on recruiting players from South Carolina.

Please join me in welcoming Malik to Wake Forest! You can watch his highlights below.
