The ACC wisely saved the best game of the 2014-2015 regular season for last. #TheRivalry is not only a huge game to both these fan bases, but widely considered one of the best rivalries in all of sports. That being said, it seems strange that the Deacs would show up and give such a lackluster effort in this one. Other than Codi Miller-McIntyre, everyone else seemed uninspired.
Miller-McIntyre finished with a game high 24 points, on 9-14 shooting.
He was so good in this game (and because I don't have any other good things to show on offense) that he's getting 2 gifs.
The Deacs only had 11 turnovers in this game, but many of them were just unforced, lack of focus turnovers.
Other times, sloppy, careless passes resulted in easy shots for the Eagles.
Defensively this game was a bit of train wreck. The Deacs either played no help D at all, which resulted in a bunch of easy layups for BC, or they helped way too much, resulting in wide open 3s for BC. Help defense is good, but every player on the court can't come to help or everyone on the other team is going to be wide open.
Here's a couple of still shots for comparison. First we see that every single Wake player on the court collapses down on Hanlan, leaving 3 BC players wide open on the perimeter. BC hit a 3 on this play.
Then, like a minute later, no one helps at all when Miller-McIntyre gets beat, and Hanlan gets a free layup.
Speaking of Olivier Hanlan, this guy is pretty good.
Hanlan finished the game with 19 points and 8 assists.
That's about all I want to say about this one. The Deacs played sloppy on the road against their rival and got beat pretty badly. Hopefully the Deacs can tighten up the screws and are ready to take on Virginia Tech at 3pm on Tuesday in the ACC Tournament.
