Khalil Welsh signs with Wake Forest

Kahlil Welsh was a largely unknown prospect several months ago. He is a 6'3" 275-pound defensive tackle out of Jacksonville, Florida, who originally committed to Wake Forest in November during his official visit. Welsh is a consensus 2-star prospect, but over the past month his recruitment greatly increased.

He took an official visit to West Virginia University this month, and SEC programs such as Missouri and Florida demonstrated significant interest in the Jacksonville native. Despite the late push from other programs, Welsh remained loyal to his verbal commitment to Wake Forest. If there is a candidate for a "sleeper" in Wake's class, this is probably it.

Welsh will be one of two defensive tackles in the 2015 recruiting class. The 2014 recruiting class had just one defensive tackle, but featured several defensive ends.
