Let's play ball.

It may still be cold outside, but college baseball is officially back. The Wake Forest baseball team, a.k.a. the Diamond Deacs, will host three contests over the next two days. Tonight at 6 p.m., the Deacs will host Delaware, while they will host Bucknell (12:30 p.m.) and VCU (3:30 p.m.)

The Deacs were picked to finish 5th in the Atlantic Division. Tom Walter is in his 6th season as Wake Forest's manager and has a 134-145 (.480). The Deacs will be led by Will Craig, who led the team in hits and home runs last season.

Blogger So Dear is committed to tracking statistics (advanced and basic) throughout the year, and will be providing weekly updates. That operation will be headed up by Mr. Bart Johnston.

Wake's starting pitcher tonight will be Matt Pirro. Manager Tom Walter says that Pirro can throw up to a fastball up to 94 MPH and has two quality off-speed pitches.
