Wake Forest Demon Deacons vs. Indiana Hoosiers Game Thread

Go Deacs!

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons take on the Indiana Hoosiers in the first round of the Maui Invitational. Although Wake Forest is 2-0 in the series history between the two schools, the Deacs will have to defeat a very formidable opponent to make it 3-0.

The Hoosiers enter the game ranked #14 in the country, and have one of the most prolific offenses in the country. They are 3rd nationally in Ken Pomeroy's adjusted offensive efficiency rankings. While they are horrific at getting to the foul line, and at turning the ball over, they are excellent at shooting and offensive rebounding. They have three players who have made more than 50% of their threes. While three games is a very small sample size, all three players has excellent numbers last year, so perimeter shooting is a serious weapon for this year's Indiana team. Wake has been horrific at defending the three so far this season, so that's a concern.

On the defensive end, they are very good at defensive rebounding and forcing turnovers. This is problematic for a Wake Forest team that has a strong inclination to turn the ball over. Wake is going to have to win the battle of the glass in order to defeat Indiana. To do that, Wake is going to have to battle against Thomas Bryant, who is a force inside.

I was hoping to see a great point guard matchup between Codi Miller-McIntyre and Yogi Ferrell, but unfortunately Codi will miss this game with his fractured foot. Still, Crawford will be tested by one of the best point guards in the country.

I'm looking forward to the early season matchup.

As always, go Deacs!
