Player: Ty Hayworth
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 325 pounds
Coming in at number 19 on our player countdown is Ty Hayworth, who is a guard out of Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, Tennessee. He was a consensus 3-star prospect out of high school and was rated as the 77th best guard in the 2012 recruiting class according to 247's composite ratings. He was a first-team all-state selection in Tennessee's Class 6A during his senior year of high school. He chose Wake Forest over Cincinnati.
Coming out of spring practice and the spring game, Hayworth was expected to be a starter, but it now appears to redshirt sophomore Will Smith will get the starting nod at left guard. This came as a surprise given that Hayworth started eight games at left guard last season. Even with Smith being the probable starter, fans should still expect Hayworth to see reasonable playing time at a number of positions on the offensive line. In practices I've seen him at both guard positions in addition to both tackle positions.
Check back later to find out who is number 18 on our player countdown. The season starts exactly two weeks from today!
