Player: Zach Gordon
Coming in at number 22 on our player countdown is tight end Zach Gordon out of Carrollton High School in Carrollton, Georgia. Gordon is a redshirt sophomore who contributed in all 12 games last season on special teams. Gordon was a consensus 3-star recruit out of high school and was rated as the 37th best tight end in the 2012 recruiting class by 247's composite ratings. In the spring game, he recorded two receptions for 10 yards.
Gordon is projected to start at tight end for the Deacs, but redshirt freshman Cam Serigne has been impressive in practices and in Wake Forest's first scrimmage. In that scrimmage Serigne had two receptions for 59 yards. Gordon, however, is a very good blocker, which could be a valuable asset this season. The tight end position has been under utilized in previous years, but look for the tight ends to have an increased role beginning this season.
Check back later this afternoon to find out who comes in at number 21 on our player countdown.
