Coming in at No. 37 is offensive tackle Will Smith. Smith hails from Charlotte, but attended Christchurch (VA). He lived in Winston-Salem until he was 8 and moved with his family. This was no doubt a big factor in his decision to attend Wake Forest.
Smith is 6-5, 290, and chose Wake over Maryland, N.C. State, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
He played in four games last year as a reserve lineman as a redshirt freshman, making his collegiate debut against Presbyterian in the first game of the season.
The breakdown at offensive tackle is one of the bigger questions heading into fall camp from an outsiders perspective. There is plenty of returning talent and experience in Antonio Ford and Dylan Intemann, who will presumably be the starters. Will Smith will probably get a lot of rotational snaps and provide good depth there.
It would not surprise me to see Smith push those two guys in practice and find a spot on the field as the year progresses for Coach Clawson and the Deacs.
