Player Countdown: No. 42 LB Teddy Matthews

We are finally getting into a bulk of players who have seen a little more time on the field. No. 42 in our countdown in linebacker Teddy Matthews

The countdown marches on as we begin to touch on players that have seen more time on the field in the Old Gold and Black. No. 42 on the BSD countdown is RS So. LB Teddy Matthews.

Matthews played in all 12 games last season for the Deacs, accumulating 20 tackles and a sack as a reserve linebacker. He made a great appearance in the Spring Game in April, racking up 7 tackles and a pass deflection.

Out of West Palm Beach Florida, Matthews played for the Willie Bueno at Royal Palm Beach High School. He was voted to the all-conference and all-area Class 7A by the Palm Beach Post.

Matthews is a guy that should continue to see increased snaps for the defense, where his 6-3, 240 frame will provide a big body at inside linebacker. He is pretty versatile and should adapt well to Clawson's new defense.

I expect Matthews to have a nice sophomore season and will be one of the anchor points on the defense moving forward.
