Cornerback Jalen Latter is number 47 on our player countdown. Latter appeared in all 12 games last year as a true freshman, primarily on special teams, but also a few snaps at cornerback. He also carried the ball once as a running back against Maryland.
He recorded five tackles on the year, including two in the season finale against Vanderbilt.
The cornerback position is as loaded for Wake Forest as a position will every be, with Bud Noel and Kevin Johnson anchoring the two starting positions. It will be interesting to see how the new defensive scheme plays into the amount of snaps that secondary players get.
Latter has a good chance at getting snaps as his career progresses, especially if he continues to utilize his speed on special teams. At Charlotte Vance, Latter played quarterback and cornerback, throwing for over 1,600 yards and 16 TD's as a senior.
He chose Wake Forest over Navy, Air Force and Charlotte.
