Wake Forest Football Recruiting: Cornerback Amari Henderson Commits to Wake Forest

Grant Halverson

Wake Forest received its second verbal commitment in as many days when 3-star cornerback Amari Henderson committed to the Demon Deacons.  Amari chose Wake Forest over offers from Kansas State, Kentucky and Penn State. He was also recently receiving a lot of interest from Michigan.

This commitment continued a theme for the 2015 recruiting class. The first is that #CarolinaBlack continues as Henderson is out of Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. The second being that Henderson is a defensive back who stands at 6'1" 182 pounds. He runs a 4.46 second 40-yard dash and has good tackling and playmaking abilities. Coach Elko's defensive scheme is a 4-2-5, so defensive backs are always welcoming. Given the offer sheet, this is clearly a big pickup for the Deacs. Wake Forest currently has the 37th best recruiting class in the country according to 247.
