Next in our player countdown is RS Freshman CB Josh Okonye, out of Sugar Land, Texas. Okonye redshirted last year under Jim Grobe, and is expected to play a big role on special teams this year for Coach Clawson and the Deacs.

Okonye got his Wake Forest career started off in grand fashion, recording an interception in the spring game for the defense. He graduated in 2013 from George Ranch High School and led the team to a 5-5 record in its first year of football. He made the District 23-4A first team as a cornerback.

There is no doubt that Okonye, at 6-0, 185, has the ability to be a key player for the Deacs in his career, but it is unlikely that he will contribute much on the first team defense due to the sheer talent and depth in the secondary this year. His forte will likely be on the scout team and special teams, where his speed and ability to know where the ball is will play big dividends to the team as a whole.

It will be exciting to see how Okonye continues to develop and get adjusted to the speed and ability of college football.
