Recruiting Spotlight: WR JJ Arcega-Whiteside

Will the Deacs be able to add another piece from the South Carolina pipeline?

Student Sports

JJ Arcega-Whiteside is a 6'3 200lb wide receiver from Roebuck, SC. He currently holds 18 offers, most notably: Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Michigan St., Pittsburgh, Stanford, UCF, Virginia and Wake Forest. JJ took a visit to Winston on April 8th.

Arcega-Whiteside has all the tools to be a big time player at the next level. His size and hands make him a top target on deep balls as well as in the red-zone. He always seems to catch the ball with his hands and at the top of his jump, leaving defensive backs at his disposal. JJ is a very polished route runner, as evident in the stop and go route at the 1:10 mark in his highlight film below. However, getting open and catching the ball is just one of JJ's tools. He is an absolute monster after the catch, showing the ability to make 3-4 defenders miss and take it to the house 30-40 yards after the catch.

Coach Clawson will be looking to add a big play wide receiver after losing Kameron Uter and Jaylan Barbour. Arcega-Whiteside would be a lethal weapon on the outside and could be the focal point of the offense down the road. Putting JJ in #CarolinaBlack would be a great thing for an already promising 2015 class.
