Wake Forest Football Recruiting: Safety Christian Matthew Commits to Wake Forest

Student Sports

Wake Forest has added another player to its 2015 recruiting class. Christian Matthew, a safety out of Columbus, Georgia, announced via his Twitter that he has committed to Wake Forest University. The Georgia native attended a Wake Forest football camp on June 18th and impressed the coaching staff enough to earn an offer.

Christian will be the second defensive back to join Wake's 2015 recruiting class, with the other being cornerback Dionte Austin. At 6'2", Christian will continue the trend of recruiting and landing taller defensive backs. 2014 safety recruits Demetrius Kemp and Cameron Glenn are 6'0" and 6'2", respectively. You can tell from the video that he has good defensive instincts and can help out the front seven in run support. The switch to the 4-2-5 means that Clawson and his staff should begin to be putting a premium on recruiting defensive linemen and defensive backs. I think you can already see that taking place in the 2015 class.
