Wake Forest Player Countdown: No. 80 CB Thomas Dillon

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

Freshman  Thomas Dillon comes in at number 80 on our player countdown. Dillon is a 5'11" 173 pound cornerback out of Kinkaid in Houston, Texas. During his senior season at Kinkaid, he had 41 tackles and six interceptions.. Dillon was a consensus 3-star recruit according to 247 and was ranked as the 133rd best corner in the 2014 recruiting class. He also had offers from BYU, Colorado and Fresno State.

Dillon comes in at number 80 on the countdown because of the incredible depth at the corner position and secondary in general. Senior corners Kevin Johnson and Bud Noel are both All-ACC caliber players. Backing them up will be Allen Ramsey as well as sophomores Brad Watson and Jalen Latter, who both played as true freshmen. Dillon is capable of contributing on special teams next season, but I don't believe Clawson would burn a redshirt just for that purpose. Should a corner freshman be needed, I believe DaiQuan Lawrence is more likely. Additionally, I also have freshmen safeties Cameron Glenn and Demetrius Kemp rated higher than Dillon. Dillon is still a promising prospect, so it really speaks to Wake's secondary talent that he comes in at number 80.

Do you believe he should be higher?
