The No. 68 player in Blogger So Dear's countdown is another North Carolina product in Ali Lamot. Lamot hails from Mebane, N.C., where he attended Eastern Alamance high school. The 6-foot-2 outside linebacker tallied 101 tackles during his senior season, and also an amazing 17 sacks. These numbers earned him first team all-state honors for the 3A class (NC Preps).
Lamot redshirted last year under Coach Grobe, and will figure to be a rotational type player, as linebacker/defensive end is one of the strongest areas on the team this year. There are a lot of great young players vying to impress Coach Clawson, and Lamot should figure to be right in there throughout the fall.
It will be interesting to see where Lamot figures in on the defensive side of things, as his size gives him a chance to be a linebacker and defensive end.
Not only did Lamot perform well in football at Eastern Alamance, he also played basketball and finished second in the region in the 110-meter hurdles. This type of speed and athleticism will do him and the entire defensive unit a lot of good as he continues to learn the game and develop.
