Wake Forest Player Countdown: No. 69 Offensive Lineman Joel Suggs

Coming in at number 69 on the countdown for the 2014 football season is sophomore offensive lineman Joel Suggs.

Randy Sartin-USA TODAY Sports

Joel Suggs, an offensive lineman from Randleman, North Carolina, brings in the 60's for the Blogger So Dear Wake Forest football countdown. Suggs is a rising sophomore and will have three years left at Mother So Dear to learn the new Clawson offense and adapt to the changes from the Lobotzke regime. After redshirting his freshman year in 2012, Suggs was mired behind seasoned veterans in the 2013 season and has yet to start a game in the old gold and black. At 6'6", 300 lbs, Suggs has the size and the ability to crack the starting lineup and the 2014 season promises to be an exciting one for the sophomore.

Suggs was drawn to Wake after attending a football summer camp there following his sophomore year of high school. Despite garnering offers from schools including N.C. State, Stanford, West Virginia, and East Carolina, he ended up committing to head coach Jim Grobe and participated in the 2011 Shrine Bowl in North Carolina. With a handful of starters graduating and a new coach on the scene it is unclear what to expect from the offensive line rotation. Suggs will undoubtedly have the opportunity to crack the lineup and will almost certainly see some playing time throughout his sophomore campaign.

Check back tomorrow for number 68 on our list as we count down the entire football roster leading up to the season opener against ULM on August 28th. As always, go Deacs!
