Coming in at number 78 is Matt James, who is a redshirt senior wide receiver out of Sanderson High School in Raleigh, North Carolina. James is a former 3-star recruit, who chose Wake Forest over Virginia Tech, Maryland, Kentucky, and Syracuse.
Matt James has been unable to stay healthy during his time at Wake Forest, as he has only played in 16 games over the past three seasons. For his career, James has just 8 receptions and 57 receiving yards. He has contributed to special teams some throughout his career, but his upside as a pass catcher is limited. I rank him behind the incoming freshmen receivers because he'll be behind at least six receivers currently on the roster. I firmly believe incoming receiver Kameron Uter will play immediately, and while others may redshirt, I believe their upside is higher if they do end up seeing the field. At 6'5", he could be utilized as a redzone threat, but fellow 6'5" receiver Brandon Terry has been more reliable and 6'5" tight end Zach Gordon should step up this season.
Should the senior be ranked higher?
