After an intense recruiting process, Campbell graduate transfer, Darius Leonard, decided to attend Wake Forest for his final year of college. He was recruited by many other high major teams, including Miami, Marquette, Virginia Tech and Drexel, before choosing Wake Forest. This decision came after Leonard took a visit to Wake Forest on Monday. Leonard will be Wake Forest's only senior next season and will be crucial to their success next season.

While Darius Leonard enjoyed the other schools he visited, he said Wake Forest stood out to him. "Wake Forest is a young team. They have battled for two years in the ACC taking their lumps and now its time we return the favor. Coach Manning has played on the highest levels so he can relate to the players in every way and I like that in a coach."

Darius Leonard's decision came after his visit to Wake Forest, which was very informative for him. "It was great. It was a short one day visit but I felt that was the place for me. I could really see myself there learning from Coach Manning and the rest of the staff."

The most memorable part of the visit for Leonard was very simple. "My favorite part was Coach Manning showing me film of how I would be used in the system."

Along with seeing his fit on film, Darius Leonard saw where he fit on Wake Forest's roster. Coach Manning told him his role would be "To stretch the floor and be another presence inside. They have not said anything to me about starting. I'm willing to fill any role needed." This flexibility and skill set will be extremely valuable for Wake Forest next season.

Coach Manning was extremely excited when Darius Leonard decided to commit. "He was excited. I texted him and asked him for the grad school application and he asked did that mean I was committing. He said I made his day."

Darius Leonard's cousin and current Wake Forest basketball player, Madison Jones, was also very happy to see Leonard's commitment to Wake Forest. "He was very happy. He has been talking to me throughout the entire process."

In his only season at Wake Forest, Darius Leonard has large expectations. "I want to win the ACC and make a run the NCAA Tournament." His goals may be ambitious, but Manning himself has stated that he wants to cut down nets and win championships.

While Darius Leonard's time at Wake Forest will not be long, his impact will be huge. He will be the only senior on Danny Manning's first Wake Forest team. Leonard will be expected to play a large role on the court and as a leader. He is ready for the challenge and has fully embraced the opportunity to play for Wake Forest.
