Sophomore first singles player Romain Bogaerts begins his quest for an NCAA singles championship this morning against Illinois' Farris Gosea in Athens, Ga. The 29th-ranked Bogaerts anchored the Demon Deacons lineup with a 32-12 record, including an impressive victory over 2nd-ranked Guillermo Alcorta of Oklahoma.

Meanwhile, the junior Gosea is seeded 18th and enters the match with a 36-9 record. Additionally, Gosea has posted a strong 10-2 mark against ranked opponents.

The winner of the match will square off against the winner of 9-16 seed Brayden Schnur from North Carolina and Pepperdine's Alex Sarkissian. Bogaerts, who hails from Huppaye, Belguim, lost to Schnur in Chapel Hill two months ago 6-2, 6-4.

Bogaerts becomes the first Wake competitor in the singles tournament since 2010. The All-ACC First Teamer looks for revenge after being upset in the first round last season as the number six overall seed while playing for Mississippi State.
