The Wake Forest baseball team had a very good past few days as they defeated #1 Virginia twice in three games. Wake played a double-header against Virginia yesterday, winning the first game 6-5 before losing 7-2 in the second game. This afternoon the Deacs won 4-3 in an exciting finish that saw Parker Dunshee strikeout Nick Howard with two outs and the bases loaded. The series loss dropped Virginia to 43-11, with a 22-8 ACC record. The Deacs finished the regular season with a 30-25 record, including a 15-15 ACC record.
Both teams will now look to the ACC Tournament, which will be head in Greensboro, North Carolina at NewBridge Bank Park from May 20th through 25th. Wake Forest is the 8 seed and will play the 9 seed Georgia Tech on Tuesday at 3 p.m. The winner of that game will join Pool A, which includes #1 Miami, #4 Duke and #5 Clemson. Pool B consists of #2 Florida State, #3 Virginia, #6 Maryland and the winner of #7 North Carolina vs. #10 North Carolina State.
