Justin Bauman Named Wake Forest Director of Basketball Operations

The first hire of Danny Manning's staff has been made. What does the resume of our new director of basketball operations look like?

Donald Miralle

Justin Bauman will be the new director of basketball operations for Wake Forest's men's basketball program, at least according to Bauman's Twitter account. The position was formerly held by Jeff Nix. At this time it's unclear if Nix will continue in any role with the basketball program.

Bauman brings a wealth of experience to Wake Forest. Bauman attended Kansas University from 2000-2006, where he received a bachelor's degree in 2004 and a master's degree in 2006. During his time in Lawrence, he served under both Roy Williams and Bill Self, who are widely regarded as two of the best coaches in college basketball. From 2000-2003, he assisted Roy Williams and his staff with gameday and practice operations. In 2003 he became the head manager, which is a position he held for three seasons. Bauman assisted with on-campus recruiting, practices and scouting reports. Additionally, he oversaw the student support staff and the team's equipment and apparel needs. Following his time at Kansas he was the director of basketball operations for Florida Atlantic University for two seasons. After this stop he went to the University of San Francisco where he became their director of basketball operations for two seasons, before becoming an assistant coach for two seasons after that.

Bauman joined Danny Manning's Tulsa staff in April of 2012 and had been with him for the past two seasons. You can read his full biography here.
