Wake Forest Football: Spring Game & Recruiting Visits

Wake Forest will have their spring game on Saturday. What can we expect to see and what recruits will be there?

Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

Dave Clawson and his Wake Forest Demon Deacons will hold their annual spring game on Saturday at 2 p.m. at BB&T Field. Admission and parking are both free. I strongly encourage everyone to tailgate early and then enjoy the game. The spring game will be a legitimate scrimmage and it will be first team offense and second team defense vs. first team defense and second team offense. It promises to be a beautiful day in Winston-Salem and I strongly encourage everyone everyone to tailgate early and then support Coach Clawson, his staff, and the players by watching the game.

Tyler Cameron will be the quarterback of the first team offense. Joining Cameron will be tailback Orville Reynolds, E.J. Scott at slot receiver, Tyree Harris and Jared Crump at wide receivers, Zach Gordon at tight end, Dylan Intemann and Antonio Ford at offensive tackles, Josh T. Harris and Ty Hayworth at guards and Cory Helms at center.

The strength of the defense will be its veteran secondary. Kevin Johnson and Merrill Noel will be the corners, Anthony Wooding Jr. and Ryan Janvion will be the safeties, Hunter Williams will be the rover, Brandon Chubb and Marquel Lee will be the linebackers, Zachary Allen and Desmond Floyd at defensive end, and Johnny Garcia and Josh Banks at defensive tackles.

I had identified most of these starters at practice, but I give credit to Dan Collins of the Winston-Salem Journal for filling in the missing pieces.

Recruiting

Kengera Daniel- Kengera is a defensive end out of Middlebrook High School in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is a high 3-star recruit and is the 401st best rising high school senior in the country according to 247. He currently has offers from Wake Forest, Alabama, Miami, Virginia, and Boston College, among others. This will be at least the third visit in the past two months for the Raleigh native. He previously visited on March 1st and March 29th. He visited Alabama last weekend and would like to commit on/by July 29th and enroll early wherever he goes.

Kyle Henderson - The 280 pound defensive tackle out of Plant High School in Tampa, Florida will reportedly be visiting the spring game this weekend. The consensus 3-star prospect currently holds offers from Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Mississippi State, Missouri, and Syracuse, among many others. He is the 72nd best defensive tackle in the country and comes from an outstanding high school program.

Jonathan Holland - The defensive end from Maryland will be visiting Wake Forest on Friday. He attends the same high school as 2014 offensive tackle commit Justin Herron. He is the 38th best weakside defensive end in the country according to 247's composite ratings. He holds offers from Wake Forest, Indiana, Penn State, Pittsburgh, and West Virginia, among others.

Antonio Howard - The 2015 defensive back our of Miami is also set to visit tomorrow. According to his Twitter account, Wake Forest invited him to attend tomorrow's spring game and he informed me that he would be attending. Howard is only a 2-star prospect according to 247, but has an offer from Kentucky as well as interest from Alabama. The recent F.I.U. decommit clearly has more talent than his star ranking indicates.
