Recruiting Spotlight: Wake Forest Offers 2015 Small Forward Ray Smith

Danny Manning has been on the recruiting trail and seems to have identified wing players as a position of need. On Thursday he offered Ray Smith from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ray Smith is a 6'7" small forward who attends Las Vegas High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. Smith currently holds offers from Arizona, Georgetown, Texas, UCLA, and UNLV, among others. Smith is a consensus 4-star and is one of the 60 best players in the class of 2015.

Smith can handle the ball in the open court and possesses good vision for a wing. He is an explosive athlete who can attack the basket and finish when he gets there. His outside shot is very good for a small forward as he was shooting 37% from deep 24 games into this past season. His Wildcats finished the season 22-7 and the rising senior averaged 24.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.3 blocks. He needs to work on consistency, but I anticipate that will come with time.

Smith projects to only get better as he gets closer to high school graduation and should have a meaningful impact from the moment he steps foot on campus. You can follow Ray on Twitter @RaySmith2297
