Wake Forest Football Spring Practice: 4/10

Which Deacs stood out at Thursday's practice?

Jeremy Brevard-US PRESSWIRE

The Wake Forest football team held its 8th spring practice on Thursday and are now more than halfway through spring practice.

The current first team offense appeared to consist of the following:

Quarterback: Tyler Cameron

Running Back: Orville Reynolds

Tight End: Zach Gordon

Wide Receivers: Tyree Harris, Jared Crump, E.J. Scott (slot)

Offensive Line: Antonio Ford, Josh Harris, Cory Helms, Dylan Intemann, and Hunter Goodwin

Orville Reynolds displayed bursts of explosiveness and did a good job of hitting holes and I thought the offensive line played well today.

Special teams was once again a point of emphasis. An initial session was used to build blocking schemes and a later practice session went 11 on 11. Bud Noel was the primary kickoff returner.

The outside linebacker/defense end "drop" position is still getting sorted out and could last well into August. Wendell Dunn, Zachary Allen, Duke Ejiofor, and Ali Lamot are all listed as defensive end, even though they were listed as linebackers last season. Lance Virgile is still listed as a linebacker, but was seen participating in drills with the other defensive ends.

James Looney was out with an injury today and was restricted to weight lifting exercises throughout practice.

The next practice is scheduled for Saturday at BB&T Field.  A reminder that the spring game is scheduled for April 26th and I encourage Deacon fans to come out and support the Deacs!
