Wake Forest & Old Dominion Agree to Home-and-Home

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Wake Forest announced today that the school has agreed to a home-and-home with Old Dominion during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. The Demon Deacons will visit the Monarchs on September 19, 2020 and the Monarch will visit the Demon Deacons on September 11, 2021. Old Dominion is in its 6th year as a football program and has a 50-20 record. They are 4-6 on the season with wins over Hampton, Eastern Michigan, Rice, and F.I.U.

I like that Wake is scheduling opponents like Appalachian State and Old Dominion, but wish we could at least get some 2 for 1's in these series. That said, it's a fairly easy road trip and will allow the Deacons to play in a game in the Norfolk area, which is ripe with high school football talent. When you consider that Wake Forest rarely plays either at Virginia Tech or Virginia, it's one of the best ways to get ourselves in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach region.

What are your thoughts on this opponent? Do you like the home-and-home? Should we not be playing as many road non-conference games against non-Power 5 opponents?
