Travis McKie had been in a bit of a slump prior to Wednesday night's game against Virginia Tech. The senior and had accumulated just 15 points and 10 rebounds over the four games prior. This was a four game stretch in which the Deacs went just 1-3. The Richmond native was sensational in his final collegiate game in the state of Virginia, when he scored 24 points, on just 10 shots, including going 5-5 from beyond the arc. McKie also grabbed 6 rebounds and had zero turnovers en route to a 83-77 victory over Virginia Tech.
Three days later, Wake Forest's lone senior followed up that effort with 14 points and 3 rebounds, including crucial free throws down the stretch, to help the Deacs hold off Notre Dame 65-68.
Wake Forest fans can only hope McKie's stellar play will continue into this week as the Demon Deacons will be taking on the #2 and undefeated Syracuse Orange in the Joel on Wednesday night. This is by all accounts the biggest game for Wake Forest since the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
Congratulations to Travis and Lamar on their outstanding performances this week.
