The #7 Wake Forest Demon Deacons, coming off a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over #15 Portland, opened the ACC season under the bright lights of Spry Stadium against #4 Florida State and played them to a 0-0 tie.
The Deacs struggled to generate anything going offensively and only generated 3 shots. "We made really poor decisions passing wise. We turned the ball over, so if you can't keep the ball then you're defending. Just from an attacking standpoint we played really poorly and that forced us into defending a lot," said head coach Tony da Luz.
Defensively, however, the Deacs were outstanding. Tony da Luz said, "I thought the kids defended really really well. And really, there weren't any clear cut chances. I don't think there was any other than the big throw in." Aubrey Bledsoe posted the 28th shutout of her collegiate career and Jackie McSally did an excellent job at the left back position.
Wake Forest will host the Miami Hurricanes on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Spry Stadium. Miami is coming off a loss to #15 Duke. I'd encourage you all to come out to this upcoming game or any game you can and show this team support. You can find their schedule here.
