Predictions
BJohnston - Wake is significantly better than they were two years ago when they beat Presbyterian 53-13 in the opener. This Wake team will cruise past the Blue Hose with no problem and it's just a matter of when Coach Grobe calls off the dogs. I think this is a big year for Grobe and I think he lets the starters have some fun in this one. Presbyterian manages to get a touchdown at some point, likely in garbage time.
Deacs win 60-7
J.P. Mundy - I'm not big on predictions, especially not having seen the Wake Forest offense. I think Wake's defense dominates, the offense is slow to find a rhythm but cruises 38-7. I agree with Bart that this is a very big year for Grobe and Wake Forest, and I know the players are not at all interested in "just winning" this game.
Robert Reinhard - Halfway decent shot we emerge from this one victorious. Presbyterian is bad even by FCS standards and I expect us to make that apparent tomorrow night. I really wouldn't be surprised if we had a special teams touchdown, and I think we will move the ball at will against them. Our defense is anticipated to be much better from last season and I expect they will be impressive in their season debut.
I'll take the good guys to win big. I'll go Deacs 52-3.
RAJohnston - Hopefully this game won't be a redux of the "too close for comfort" game last year against Liberty. The Deacs are better than last year plain and simple, and I expect the team to flex its muscles in the first half against a sub-par FCS team. As always it is difficult to pick the score since hopefully the back-ups will be getting a lot of time for both teams. I like Wake to hit the ground game early and often to get the new linemen in a good flow and establish the dominance on the clock and scoreboard.
I'll take the Deacs 38-14 in this one, with the first team defense hopefully limiting the Blue Hose to a touchdown or less.
Thanks for taking the time to chime in guys and needless to say, each of us are 0-0 for the season. I'll keep tabs with everyone's record as the season progresses. With no spread hopefully we will all fare relatively well, but if not we hope you keep reading anyway. IT'S GAMEDAY! Go Deacs!
