Running back Isaiah Robinson of Independence High School (Charlotte) recently became the Wake Forest Demon Deacons fifth commit of the 2014 class.
Robinson took some time this weekend to answer a few questions with Blogger So Dear so Wake Forest fans could get to know him a little better.
Enjoy!
BSD: Why did you commit to Wake Forest University as opposed to any other school?
I committed to Wake Forest because I feel as if though I fit in well with the offensive system that is run at Wake Forest. Also we all know that at Wake Forest you can't beat the education, and I have a good relationship with Coach Mitchell and Stubblefield.
BSD: Who were the teams that offered you scholarships and who did it come down to at the end?
I had offers from Wake Forest, ULouisville, ECU, UConn, UBuffalo, UCharlotte, and UOhio. At the end it came down to Wake Forest and ECU.
BSD: Describe your game to Wake Forest fans that have never seen you play.
I am more of a power back, down hill runner, but I also have enough speed to get to the outside and make plays. I'm also light on my feet when it's time to put a move on someone and get back north.
BSD: What are your goals for this year at Independence, individual and team-wise?
I'm not looking for individual stats this year at all. The ultimate goal of mine is to become more of a leader of my team and lead my team to a state championship ring.
BSD: What position do you see yourself playing at Wake Forest? You have a big body for a 5'10" frame.
I see myself playing Running Back at Wake Forest.
BSD: As a follow-up to that last question, what is your height and weight now. What is your target for Wake?
Right now I'm 5"11 225. When I come into Wake I should be around 6"0 and I'm gonna maintain my weight at 225.
BSD: It seemed like you had a lot of rising interest between higher rated schools, why commit to Wake now, and what schools were showing a lot of interest as of late?
I just felt like Wake was the best fit. I've been thinking about Wake for a while now, and was thinking about committing around the same time as the other running back in my class had committed. I had to wait and see if they were going to just take one back or two, so when I found out they were taking two I took the opportunity.
Schools that have been showing late interest were UNC, NCSU, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Miss. St., and Virginia Tech.
Thanks to Isaiah for the time and I'm sure that all Wake fans look forward to having him in Winston-Salem, and on the field for the Deacs.
