Update: Under-8 Timeout
Duke had this building ready to explode after a Ryan Kelly 3-point play, but Maryland is not laying down and continue to attack offensively. Duke is shooting 13 percent from beyond the arc, compared to Maryland's 44 percent. Maryland is an unbelievable 50 percent from the floor. Unless Kelly and Curry take over, this one might spoil the dream semifinal tomorrow.
Halftime Update:
Dez Wells scored 16 points as Maryland took a 34-26 lead into the halftime locker room. Maryland was the aggressor from the jump, and won the 1st half rebounding battle 20-15. Rasheed Sulaimon led all Duke scorers with 12 points, while Mason Plumlee grabbed 6 rebounds to go with his 6 points.
Duke also committed an uncharacteristic 7 turnovers while Seth Curry went scoreless from the field.
1st Update:
With 11:47 remaining in the first half, Maryland leads Duke 17-10. Dez Wells has 9 points, including a monstrous dunk that was reminiscent of Len Bias. The only scorers so far for Duke are Rasheed Sulaimon and Plumlee, who have 6 and 4, respectively.
Coach K took a quick timeout after the first two Maryland buckets, and remains livid at his team. The Devils need to get Wells under control- with a quickness.
