Sophomore Dearica Hamby scored 22 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to lead Wake Forest over the Boston College Eagles and sweep the season series on Sunday in Winston-Salem. Junior guard Chelsea Douglas (11 points, 6 assists) gave the Deacs the lead with a stone-cold, step-back jumper with 17.7 seconds left in regulation. The ensuing Eagles possession ended when senior Mykala Walker deflected an Eagle pass, forcing a turnover and sealing the win.

The Eagles (9-14, 3-9 ACC) were led by center Katie Zenevitch (24 points, 7 rebounds) and guard Kerri Shields (9 points). Boston College was forced to play the last 6:36 without star forward Kristen Doherty, who fouled out after scoring only 5 points.

Wake Forest (11-13, 4-8 ACC) led 29-19 at the half, then grew the lead to 14 as Hamby asserted herself on both ends of the floor. Boston College then mounted a furious comeback, as Zenevitch scored 20 of her game-high 24 in the second half. Wake at times was its own worst enemy, shooting a paltry 10-18 from the free-throw line.

The victory ends a five-game slide for the Deacs, whose furious rally against No.7 Maryland fizzled in the waning moments last Friday night. Next up for Wake Forest are two trips to Tobacco Road, first against north carolina on Thursday, followed by a Sunday matinee at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham.
