Prep Quarterback John Wolford Commits to Wake Forest

Wake Forest received a verbal commitment from John Wolford, who could be a four-year starter for the Demon Deacons and start from day one.

Dave Clawson hasn't even been on the Wake Forest recruiting trail for a week, yet he is still producing results. Earlier in the week he got assurance from ILB Jaboree Williams and S Cameron Glenn that they would honor their verbal commitments to Wake Forest. Today, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons got even better news when quarterback John Wolford announced that he is no longer committed to East Carolina and that he is committed to Wake Forest University following an in-home visit.

John Wolford, of Jacksonville, Florida, led Bishop Kenny High School to a 10-1 record this season and threw for 3,317 yards, 38 touchdowns to just 7 interceptions. The quarterback also ran for 931 yards (10.7 yards/carry) and 14 touchdowns. Wolford set five state records, many of which were Tim Tebow's, during his illustrious career. He had 706 completions for 10,621 yards and 126 touchdown passes. He accumulated 13,403 yards of total offense and was responsible for 162 total touchdowns.

This is an outstanding pickup for the Deacs and I would not be surprised at all if Wolford becomes Wake Forest's third consecutive four-year starter.
