WINSTON-SALEM--Senior Chelsea Douglas scored 22 points and made 5 three-pointers to lead the Wake Forest Demon Deacons over the Radford Highlanders 92-65 on Friday night. The evening marked the long-awaited debut of guard Kelila Atkinson, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury suffered in preseason. The redshirt freshman did not disappoint, finishing with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists along with 2 blocks in 21 minutes of play.
Junior Dearica Hamby continued her torrid pre-conference form, scoring 17 points and grabbing 5 rebounds in the victory. Wake Forest (4-2) held a 54-27 lead at the half, and eventually stretched the lead to 36 points. However, Radford ( 2-3) finally found its footing midway through the second half and trimmed the lead to 23 before Atkinson and the Deacs reclaimed their dominant ways.
The Deacs next play at Arizona next Tuesday night before heading to Reno, Nevada for the John Ascuaga's Nugget Classic over Thanksgiving Weekend.
