Gamethread: Wake Forest v. Syracuse

Wake Forest looks to get within one game of bowl eligibility when they travel to New York to take on Syracuse in the first ACC meeting between the two teams. Syracuse enters the game at 3-4, desperately needing a win as well to help their search for six wins.

Join us here at Blogger So Dear as you watch the Demon Deacons square off against the Syracuse Orange. These two teams opened the season against one another two years ago in a game that featured a Wake team, led by sophomore Tanner Price, blow a 15 point fourth quarter lead to fall in overtime 36-29. Price will be looking for revenge as the Deacs return to the Carrier Dome with a 4-4 (2-3) record fresh off a brutal last second loss on the road at the hands of top-ten Miami. Wake receiver Michael Campanaro only needs six receptions to move into second place on the all-time ACC receptions list.

Syracuse enters the game off a bye last week and sits at 3-4 (1-2) on the year. Both teams have defeated N.C. State so far, with Syracuse winning 24-10 at Carter Finley. The last time out on the field, the Orange were humiliated in Atlanta against Georgia Tech falling by a score of 56-0. To make matters worse, the Orange's starting kicker is suspended for the game following an arrest last week for underage drinking and resisting arrest.

This game essentially amounts to an elimination game of sorts for the two teams as both teams need a win against a lower-tiered ACC opponent to get one step closer to six wins.
