Senior forward Kelsey Buchanan scored 22 points and the Delaware Blue Hens (2-1) used a 14-0 run in the second half to outlast Wake Forest 71-61 in Newark, Delaware Friday night. Chelsea Douglas made a career-high 6 three-pointers en route to 30 points on the night, while Dearica Hamby contributed another double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) in a losing effort.
Wake Forest (1-2) led by 5 at halftime and as many as 9 in the second half before Delaware seized control with 8 minutes to play. Junior Millesa Calicott added 11 points and 3 assists for the Deacs in 30 minutes of play. The Deacon freshmen, who factored in greatly during the previous outing against Campbell, combined to score only 8 points Friday night.
Next up for the Deacs are the Davidson Wildcats, who visit LJVM next Tuesday night. Tip time is 7:00 p.m.
