2014 point guard Shelton Mitchell, the #20 overall player in the class and #2 in the state of North Carolina said today that he was committed to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons!

According to Shelton Mitchell's personal Twitter page (@SMitchell_4), he has decided to take his talents to Winston-Salem to play basketball.

Mitchell is a consensus top 25 player in the country and top 5 at the point guard position for the 2014 class. He measures in at 6'3, 175, and has another year to add some weight to that already solid frame.

His offers included: Arizona, Clemson, UCONN, Illinois, Mississippi St, Missouri and South Carolina, according to Rivals. Duke and UNC were also very heavily on him to come don the dark and light blue respectively.

This is by far the best thing that has happened for Jeff Bzdelik during his tumultuous career at Wake Forest, and I have to give him a standing ovation for this one. Shelton Mitchell is the type of player that can come in and immediately turn around the trajectory of a program, which will be a godsend for the Deacs. Hopefully when he arrives in 2014 there will be a solid foundation in Winston and he can get the Deacs back where they belong in the ACC, as well as the national stage of college hoops.

Maybe this is a turning point for Wake Forest and is a sign of great things to come in the next few years.

As always, welcome to Wake Forest Shelton! This is the best decision of your young life and you will enjoy it immensely here!!!
