Wake Forest basketball recruiting: Miles Overton commits

Deacs add 2013 shooting guard to the fold.

Bob Donnan-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

After losing Kam Williams to Ohio State and Davon Reed to Miami (FL), Wake Forest finally got a shooting guard to commit on Sunday, as Miles Overton pledged to the Deacs following his official visit. With CJ Harris graduating in the spring, the two guard spot was a hole the staff had to fill.

Jeff Bzdelik and company had been tracking Overton all summer, and he took an unofficial to Wake back at the beginning of the summer. This initial visit sparked his interest, and his official this weekend was enough to land a commitment. He chose the Deacs over the likes of St. Jospeh's, Temple, La Salle, Drexel, and Penn.

The 6'3 St. Joseph's Prep product is reportedly a physically built wing who can stroke it from the perimeter. His jumper has range past the three point line, and his pull-up game off the dribble is reliable, as well. More than likely, Overton will initially serve as a catch a shoot guy who will open up driving lanes for others with his ability to pose as a consistent shooting threat.

Overton's father, Doug, was a La Salle standout and went on to play 11 seasons in the NBA. It is the second commitment for Wake in the 2013 class, as Overton will join athletic small forward Greg McClinton.

Start at the 25 second mark in this video for some Overton clips. Definitely has great form on his jumper:
