6'6, 310 RG Daniel Blitch leaves Wake Forest football program

Well, the position that the Deacs probably could not afford many departures or injuries took another hit last night. According to Dan Collins and his My Take on Wake, Daniel Blitch has left the team, presumably due to lack of happiness playing football at Wake Forest overall. This leaves an already inexperienced offensive line full of questions marks with even more doubt as Blitch was expected to contend for the right guard starting spot for the regular season.

While it is rare for Wake Forest, and especially a Jim Grobe-coached team to play true freshman it may be necessary for somebody to lose their redshirt for depth purposes. Dan Collins noted in his comment section that Tyler Hayworth has impressed the coaching staff and new offensive line coach Jonathan Himebauch in particular.

It is never good to lose somebody from the football team, especially somebody where depth and starters were a pretty big unknown at this juncture, but one has to wonder whether overall this might be good for the team in the long run, especially since it is before the regular season kicks off. These things have a way of working themselves out and hopefully it will motivate the guys to work harder and put forth their best effort to get out on the field.

We here at Blogger So Dear wish Daniel Blitch the best wherever he winds up and hope he finds happiness at his next stop, as well as success on and off of the gridiron.
