Miles Overton: Post-Visit Interview

The Wake Forest basketball staff hosted an important unofficial visitor yesterday, as 2013 SG Miles Overton spent the day on campus. Listed at 6'4 and 200 pounds, Overton attends St. Joseph's Prep in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Overton has an offer from the Deacs, as head coach Jeff Bzdelik looks to add a shooting guard to replace the graduating C.J. Harris.

This morning, I had the chance to interview Overton. We discussed his visit, his upcoming plans, and his overall game.

Check it out after the jump.

BSD- Let's start by talking about your visit yesterday. Who did you come down with? Who did you meet?

Miles Overton- I came down with my mom and dad. I met the whole staff and an academic advisor. I enjoyed it a lot.

BSD- Which coach is your primary recruiter? How would you describe your relationship with that coach?

MO- Coach Battle. He's a Philly guy and we talk all the time.

BSD- What did you talk about with Coach Bzdelik? What did he emphasize to you? What are your impressions of him as a coach?

MO- We talked about everything, Wake, school and a lot more. He emphasized how Wake would be a good spot for me and I like him a lot as a coach.

BSD- Now, moving forward, where do you go from here? What other schools are you looking to visit? How close do you feel you are to committing?

MO- I'm going to commit in the fall before my senior season. There are several schools I'm going to visit. I just have no set dates yet. Xavier, Virginia Tech, Seton Hall, Penn State, Temple, St. John's and many more schools are recruiting me, so I'll probably go to a couple of them. I'm not 100 percent sure yet though.

BSD- Do you think you might come back to Wake for an official visit after you visit some other schools, or have you seen everything you need to see at Wake?

MO- I would like to come back to attend some games.

BSD- Tell Wake Forest fans a little bit about your game. What are your biggest strengths?

MO- I'm a combo guard that can score a lot of different ways. People say I'm more of a shooter but I can drive and I'm a very good passer. I play real hard and get after it defensively.

BSD- Ok Miles, thank you very much for your time. Really appreciate it. Good luck this fall with your senior season and the recruiting process!

MO- Thank you.

Analysis: As of right now, I think it is safe to say that Wake is in very good shape with Overton:

1) He clearly made visiting Wake a priority.
2) Wake is just about the only non-local school he seems seriously interested in.
3) Both his parents came on the visit.

It's important to note, however, that his recruitment appears to be far from over. While he wants to commit early (i.e before mid-November), he also wants to take a number of other visits. It'll be interesting to see where he ends up visiting this fall. Almost assuredly, Wake will need to beat out a local school, which is typically very difficult. I think we'll need to get a second visit. As it stands right now though, I believe we are towards the top of his list.

Again, many thanks to Miles Overton (@MilesOverton) for taking the time to answer our questions.
