After a mostly successful year for the Wake Forest women's basketball team, they have been announced as the No. 7 seed in the ACC. They will take on recently vanquished foe No. 10 Virginia Tech on Thursday at 6 in the first round of the tournament in Greensboro.
If they can defeat the Hokies on Thursday they will take on the No. 2 seed Miami Hurricanes in the 2nd round of the tournament (Friday at 6:00).
The Deacs had a great chance with a couple of weeks left to audition for an NCAA Tournament berth (which would have been the first since 1989 and the second in school history), but with a .500 record over the four games and close losses to Georgia Tech and Virginia, it is likely that the Women's NIT will be the final destination for the team this season.
Wake Forest closed the regular season with a 68-39 thrashing of Virginia Tech yesterday to grab the No. 7 seed and finish with a 17-12 record overall (7-9 in the ACC).
