Devin Thomas a Hot Commodity

Each spring, a few under-the-radar prospects seem to emerge on the AAU scene. One player who has done that this year is 6'8 235lb power forward Devin Thomas.  The talented big man out of Harrisburg, PA has enjoyed a terrific AAU season thus far which included a stellar performance at the Bob Gibbons TOC.

"AAU is going really good so far", said Thomas. "Our team is starting to really come together and I expect us to have a good July".

Despite being named All-State last season, Thomas is still a bit unknown on the national scene. Thomas is taking that in stride and is proving his worth on the court each time out. "I didn't go to any of the big time camps so I think I am underrated right now. I'm not really worried about that though. I just go out and play my game."

Thomas says his game consists of both back to the basket and face up moves. "I can do both but I really like banging down low and attacking the boards." With his outstanding play, Thomas has seen his recruitment explode. "I have Wake Forest, Temple, Marquette, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Virginia, VCU, and many others showing me interest right now."

Thomas has talked with Wake Forest Head Coach Jeff Bzdelik recently and liked what he heard about the Demon Deacon program. "One thing that I really liked hearing is Wake Forest is committed to graduating their players. That is big for me. They also told me their 2012 class will be a very important one for the program and they think I could be a big part of it."

Thomas plans to take visits this month to Wake, Clemson, Virginia Tech and others. Thomas has a clear idea of what he is looking for when dissecting his college choices. "I want to go somewhere and have the opportunity to play early. Education is also big as well as playing for honest coaches that keep their word."

Thomas could be just what the doctor ordered for the Demon Deacons. A skilled, high energy, physical presence is something of which the team is in desperate need.
